Take a Bite Out of Hunger

The Take a Bite out of Hunger program seeks to feed the underserved while also calling attention to food insecurity across the nation. Data from the USDA shows that 11.8 percent of all U.S. households are considered food insecure, and one out of six households with children reported food insecurity, a higher rate than those without children. Despite being a vital part of a balanced and nutritious diet, fresh fruits and vegetables are rarely donated to those in need, a problem this program aims to address.

Since it was created in 2010, Take a Bite Out of Hunger has led to the donation of 2.5 million pounds of fresh apples to food banks. FirstFruits Farms partners with retailers across the country to make this possible.

How Can You Help?

When you purchase specially marked bags of FirstFruits Farms apples at your local grocery store from January through February, you are helping donate fresh apples to your local food banks.
